Find a tree surgeon, and check them before they start
If a tree surgeon takes your garden waste away, they must be a registered waste carrier. If your tree is protected, cutting it without permission can mean an unlimited fine. We show which local firms are on the Environment Agency register, which say they're ARB Approved Contractors, and how to check your tree with your council.

Why check before you book?
Householders must make sure anyone taking their waste away is on the register of waste carriers; if it's fly-tipped, the council can fine you. Work on a protected tree without consent is a criminal offence. And bird nests that are in use are protected by law. A good tree surgeon will know all three; read our guide before you book.
